Debbie Rohloff, 55, had a meeting at the Green Bay Pro Shop July 12 and left Kaylee, a 5-year-old golden retriever, in her car, WISN reported.
Kaylee was found unresponsive in the car and taken to a veterinarian for treatment. Kaylee died of a heat stroke, a veterinarian said. Her temperature was too high to determine at her death, WISN reported.
Police said the temperature outside at the time was 77 degrees. The car was parked on a black top, in direct heat. Kaylee was left inside with the windows rolled up and without food or water. There were also indications that Kaylee tried scratching from within the vehicle to escape the heat, WISN reported.
Earlier this month, Rohloff was arrested and charged with mistreating an animal resulting in death, WISN reported.
