Walmart recalls 246K axes

Walmart has recalled nearly a quarter million axes sold at stores across the country.

Company officials have gotten two reports of the axe heads coming off the handle, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced earlier this week.

The axes were sold under Walmart’s Ozark Trail brand and have model number 60111140 on the packaging. The axe itself has a black, non-slip rubber grip and a claw feature. It weighs 1.25 pounds and is 14 inches long from the end of the handle to the top of the axe.

They were sold at brick and mortar locations and online at walmart.com from January 2017 through July of this year and cost about $8.

Anyone who bought one of these axes is being instructed to return it to Walmart for a full refund.
