Police arrested a 22-year-old woman after she walked into the Salinas Police Department holding another woman hostage with a meat cleaver.
Roberto Filice, assistant chief of police, told The Californian that Mariel Capulong walked into the department around 4:10 p.m. Wednesday and grabbed another woman as she was walking out, wrapping her arm around her neck and holding a meat cleaver in her other hand.
Surveillance video from inside the lobby shows more than half a dozen officers walking in, three with stun guns drawn. One officer disables Capulong with his stun gun, and the others tend to the victim.
KPIX reported the victim, an unidentified 43-year-old woman, was shaken but otherwise unhurt.
Salinas Police Chief Adele Frese said Capulong was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, false imprisonment and assault with a deadly weapon.
