Tennessee woman loses leg in wood chipper accident

A Tennessee woman's leg was severed in a wood chipper accident Monday morning, authorities said.

The accident occurred in Ashland City as the woman and at least one other person were trimming trees, Cheatham County Sheriff Mike Breedlove told The Tennessean.

Breedlove said a rope got caught in the chipper and wrapped around her leg, severing it, WKRN reported.

The woman, who was not identified by police, was taken by a medical helicopter to Nashville for treatment, the Tennessean reported.

The woman also is believed to have suffered a severe injury to her other leg, WKRN reported
