A police cruiser fatally hit a pedestrian in a pursuit with a reckless driver Friday night, officials said.
Two Cobleskill police cruisers tried pulling over a speeding vehicle around 10 p.m., WNYT reported.
The driver ran a red light, and after passing the intersection, one of the cruisers following the vehicle hit Gerard Roldan III, who had started to cross the road, WNYT reported.
Both units stopped to aid Roldan, 26, who was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
New York State police are investigating.
The officer involved passed an alcohol screening and submitted blood for a drug test, Spectrum News Albany reported. That officer is on paid administrative leave.
