Final of 4 escaped Ohio inmates captured in North Carolina, deputies say

Authorities in North Carolina apprehended the fourth and final inmate who remained at large Monday after escaping over the weekend from a jail in Ohio, according to sheriff's deputies.

Earlier Monday, authorities said they apprehended three other escaped inmates, identified as Brynn K. Martin, Christoper M. Clementy and Roy R. McDaniel Jr., in Cary, North Carolina. On Monday afternoon, officials in Durham, North Carolina, arrested Lawrence R. Lee III.

Update 2 p.m. EDT Sept. 30: Gallia County, Ohio, Sheriff Matt Champlin said in a statement that Lawrence R. Lee III was taken into custody Monday in Durham, North Carolina, one day after he and three other inmates escaped from a jail in Ohio.

"I would like to thank the hard working law enforcement professionals who have tirelessly dedicated themselves to providing an end to the search for these escapees," he said.

Update 5:28 a.m. EDT Sept. 30: Three of four inmates who escaped from a jail in Ohio on Sunday morning have been arrested in North Carolina, WCMH-TV reported Monday morning.

Among the three men who were caught is the man who was spotted in Westmoreland County on Sunday, according to Wake County Sheriff's Office records.

"I am pleased to be able to report that Brynn K. Martin, Christopher M. Clemente and Troy R. McDaniel Jr. have been taken into custody in Cary, North Carolina, thanks to a multi-agency response to information provided by our investigative team," the Gallia County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post early Monday.

Lawrence R. Lee III, 29, "fled from the officers at the time of the arrests," the post said.

Original report: The Westmoreland Mall in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, is on lockdown after authorities say an escaped inmate is believed to be in the area. Everyone inside the mall has been evacuated according to WPXI.

"We have reason to believe the below pictured in mate escapee Christopher Clemente is in the area of the Westmoreland Mall," Pennsylvania State Police said on Twitter on Sunday afternoon.

The Gallia County Sheriff's Office said Christopher Clemente, 24, is among a group of four inmates who escaped Gallia County Jail in Ohio. The inmates had the help of at least one person on the outside. The group reportedly forced open a secured door and overpowered two corrections officers with a homemade weapon, according to authorities.

Around 3 p.m., shoppers were allowed back into the mall. It's unknown if Clemente has been captured.

The Sheriff's Office identified the inmates as Clemente, 40-year-old Brynn Martin, 30-year-old Troy McDaniel Jr. and 29-year-old Lawrence Lee III, WPXI reported. The charges they were being held on weren't immediately available.
