Missing woman found 'chained like a dog,' sheriff says

A South Carolina woman who spent two months "chained like a dog" inside a metal container was found Thursday in Woodruff, South Carolina, KTRE reported.

Officials say a body was found on the property on Friday, according to The Associated Press. The prosecutor said the woman witnessed the suspect shoot and kill her boyfriend.

Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright said Kala Brown, 30, was found in a 30-foot by 15-foot storage container after she was heard banging inside it.

"It's all by God's grace we found that girl alive," Wright said. According to KTRE, Brown is being treated at an undisclosed medical facility.

Brown and her boyfriend, Charles Carver, 32, were reported missing in August. Spartanburg County deputies are still searching Carver.

Todd Kohlhepp, the owner of the property where Brown was found, has been arrested and will be charged with one count of kidnapping. Authorities found weapons and ammunition on the nearly 100-acre property, WYFF reported. A search of the land will continue.

Lt. Kevin Bobo said Brown told him there were four bodies buried on the property, WLOS reported.

Kohlhepp is listed on the South Carolina sex offender registry.
