The glass panel sunroof on certain Mercedes-Benz vehicles can separate and fly off, prompting a recall of nearly 750,000 cars by the automaker.

Models include 2001 to 2011 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, E-Class, CLK-Class and CLS Class.

The vehicles came with an optional sunroof. The materials holding the glass panel and the sliding roof frame may deteriorate over time, resulting in the sunroof detaching, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The sunroofs will be inspected and replaced at no charge. Affected owners will be contacted on or after Feb. 14.

In December 2019, Mercedes-Benz announced a recall covering 2.5 million vehicles because mold can grow in the heating, air conditioning and ventilation system.
