The Raymore Police Department responded to the store about 6:20 p.m., the Kansas City Star reported.

According to Raymore police Chief Jan Zimmerman, the victim took another person shopping and was loading groceries into his car when another vehicle pulled up behind them in the parking lot, the newspaper reported.

The victim was approached by the alleged shooter and talked to him briefly, WDAF reported. The victim was shot in the leg and shoulder, the television station reported. He was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to WDAF.

The passenger inside the victim's vehicle was not injured, the television station reported.

"I know we've had conversations about things that have certainly changed in our society where people don't settle it with harsh words anymore," Zimmerman told the Star. "They settle disagreements with guns, which makes it a really scary proposition for all of us because you can get caught in the crossfire of an argument that has nothing to do with you."

The suspect left the scene in a silver sedan, police tweeted. A description of the suspect was not available, the Star reported.
