Senate Bill 150, signed Monday, will allow Kentuckians 21 and older who can lawfully possess a firearm to be able to conceal it without a permit, WKYT-TV reported. The law goes into effect on June 26.
Under current law, Kentuckians must undergo a background check, complete some gun safety training and pay a $60 fee. The new law does away with those requirements, The Courier-Journal of Louisville reported.
The law has the endorsement of the National Rifle Association, but is opposed by groups like the Louisville Metro Police and the Kentucky State Fraternal Order of Police, The Courier-Journal reported.
Kentucky is the 16th state to allow permitless concealed carry, according to the NRA
