JonBenet Ramsey's brother speaks out nearly 20 years after her death

Nearly 20 years after 6-year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey was found murdered in Colorado, her brother is speaking out for the first time.

JonBenet Ramsey was found murdered on Dec. 26, 1996, in the basement of her parent's home in Boulder.

At the time, Burke Ramsey was 9 years old. Although his family has lived under a constant cloud of suspicion, he has stayed largely out of the public eye.

Burke Ramsey broke his silence in a series of interviews with Dr. Phil McGraw scheduled to air starting Monday.

"The first thing I remember is my mom bursting in my room, really frantic, saying, 'Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!' running around my room — now I know looking for JonBenet," Burke Ramsey said. "The next thing I remember is a police officer coming into my room and shining a flashlight."

The three-part interview will air on "The Dr. Phil Show," but Today's Natalie Morales spoke Friday with McGraw about the interview and what to expect from Burke.

"People are going to be very interested in his demeanor, and they're going to find his demeanor atypical," McGraw said. "He might be talking about some pretty dark aspects of this story and smiling while he's talking about that."

In 1999, JonBenet's parents, John and Patsy Ramsey, were indicted by a grand jury but were never charged.

The Ramseys were officially cleared by new evidence in 2008, two years after Patsy Ramsey died from ovarian cancer; however, many people criticized the district attorney's decision to clear the family.
