6-foot-long, 15-pound boa constrictor found in Michigan sewer drain by group of kids

A group of children in Michigan couldn’t believe their eyes when they spotted a large boa constrictor slithering around in a sewer drain in Bay City last week.

The surprised kids quickly told adults about the 6-foot-long, 15-pound snake crawling around in the drain, according to MLive.com.

Workers with the Bay County Animal Services & Adoption Center helped rescue the snake, volunteer Stephanie Beiser told MLive.

Beiser said it’s unusual to find a large abandoned snake like this, but she said incidences are increasing.

"We've seen a bit more of them in recent years because they have become more common as pets," she told the online news site.

The group is searching for the snake’s owners and said if they don’t locate them by Friday, the snake will be put up for adoption.
