According to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, the incident happened in Hawkeye around 8:45 p.m. Deputies said the man driving the mower, Tanner Miller, 23, of Hawkeye, was intoxicated at the time of incident, the television station reported.
Deputies said Miller was mowing the grass when he backed over the child, KCRG reported. He was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, the television station reported.
The girl was flown to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, KCCI reported.
