Abdul McKenzie, 39, was identified as the employee who was killed, Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee told WMBF-TV.

McKenzie was a Domino’s employee for nearly 20 years, said Osmond Kasim, manager of the Darlington Domino’s Pizza. Kasim described McKenzie as a “loving, caring family man.”

The Darlington Domino’s will remain closed indefinitely as the investigation continues, Kasim said.

An autopsy will be conducted Monday.

Deputies responded to the scene Saturday night and found a person, later determined to be McKenzie, unconscious in a car, said Darlington County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Robert Kilgo. Hardee pronounced McKenzie dead at the scene.

McKenzie had been making a routine delivery when he was shot, the Hartsville Messenger reported.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is assisting in the investigation.
