1 dead, 5 injured in shooting at Philadelphia graduation party, reports say

A shooting Sunday at a high school graduation party on Philadelphia’s southwest side left one person dead and multiple people wounded, police said.

Update 12:35 p.m. EDT June 17: The person slain in Sunday's shooting has been identified by police as Isiaka Meite, 24, according to KYW-TV and WPVI-TV.

Authorities said Meite was among six people shot around 10 p.m. Sunday at a graduation party. Police said about 60 people were attending the party in an isolated area at the end of  road when shots rang out.

The circumstances leading to the shooting were not immediately clear. No arrests have been made.

Police continue to investigate.

Update 4:39 a.m. EDT June 17: Philadelphia police are now saying that one person was killed and five others were injured in Sunday's shooting.

Authorities said early Monday that the man who died, who was 24, suffered a gunshot wound to the back, WPVI-TV reported. The injured victims included a 21-year-old man, a 16-year-old girl and three boys ranging from 15 to 17 years old, the station reported.

The suspect is still at large, police said.

Original report: The mass shooting happened at a high school graduation party Sunday night and police believe it was a targeted shooting, according to WTXF-TV.

 

The gunman opened fire into a crowd of about 60 people, striking four teenagers, one as young as 15 years old, WTXF reported.

They suffered gunshot wounds mostly to the legs, KYW-TV reported.

Four adults all in their 20s were also shot resulting in various injuries.

The deceased victim was a male in his 20s.

 

No one has been arrested yet as police continue searching for suspects.
