The Food and Drug Administration said the company believes that the cans of tomato paste, which were distributed in the United States, were damaged during the canning process, which created the potential for mold growth.

Conagra was alerted to the problem after calls from customers and is advising those who bought the product not to eat it, the FDA said. Instead consumers are asked to throw it out or return it to the store where they bought it.

The product being recalled is 6-ounce cans of Hunt's Tomato Paste No Salt Added with a UPC code of 2105902510 and an expiration date of Oct. 16, 2020. For more information on the recall, people can call 888-280-0301 Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
