Animal Rescue League of Iowa workers arrived to find the cats in "dire need of medical care" and said six of the felines had been thrown out of a window, officials said in a release.
"These poor cats deserve better than the home they were in," said Tom Colvin, CEO for the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, the Des Moines Register reported.
Many of the felines are kittens under 5 months old. They suffer from flea infestations, eye infections and respiratory infections.
Charges are expected to be filed, rescue officials said.
