California Gov. Gavin Newsom's inauguration speech crashed by 2-year-old son

Newly inaugurated California Gov. Gavin Newsom had his speech crashed last week, but he handled it with care.

CNN reported that Newsom's 2-year-old son, Dutch, got onstage while Newsom spoke to supporters Monday in Sacramento, California.

The timing was nearly perfect as Newsom, 51, lifted up his son into his arms while discussing families and early childhood education, Time reported.

While hugging and holding Dutch, Newsom went on to criticize the Trump administration's immigration policies, which have led to the separation of families.

“This is exactly how it was scripted,” Newsom joked, before putting a flailing Dutch down on the stage floor.

Dutch roamed back and forth on the stage for a few minutes as his mother and the 40th California governor’s wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, attempted to get him to walk over to her. At one point, Dutch’s older brother, Hunter, tried to help, but to no avail -- much to the amusement of the audience.
