Update 11 p.m. EDT Oct. 10: Errol Spence Jr was in stable condition Thursday according to The Associated Press.

"Spence is awake and responding and his condition is listed as stable. He did not sustain any broken bones or fractures but has some facial lacerations. He is expected to make a full recovery," the Spence family said in a statement.

Police said they're still investigating the cause of the crash, but they noted that the Ferrari was speeding at the time.

Update 12:45 p.m. EDT Oct. 10: In a statement obtained by KDFW, police confirmed Spence was driving a Ferrari on Thursday morning that flipped several times and crashed in downtown Dallas.

Authorities said Spence was driving "at a high rate of speed" just before 3 a.m. Thursday when he veered over the center median.

He was hospitalized Thursday in a hospital intensive care unit, though police said he was expected to survive.

"His injuries are not life-threatening. His parents are with him at the hospital," Tim Smith, a spokesman for Spence's promoter, Premier Boxing Champions, told The Associated Press.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of Thursday morning's crash.

Original report: According to KTVT and KDFW, sources said Spence suffered serious injuries in the crash, which occurred about 3 a.m. as he was driving his Ferrari on Riverfront Boulevard.

Although officers have not publicly identified the driver as Spence, Dallas police did say a "high-profile man" was involved in the wreck. Authorities said the 29-year-old was ejected as the Ferrari drove over a median "and flipped multiple times," KTVT reported. He did not have on a seat belt, police said.

The driver's injuries are not considered life-threatening, police said.

Authorities are still trying to determine what caused the crash, the news outlets reported.
