Clinton jail cell parade float draws cheers, complaints

A float featuring Hillary Clinton that took part in an Iowa town parade Saturday drew a mixed reaction.

The float featured a rusty jail cell, with a figure dressed in an orange jail jumpsuit and wearing a Clinton mask. A sign that was a mock of Clinton’s campaign logo said “Hillary for Prison 2016” was hanging in the cell, and a Trump campaign sign also adorned the float.

Children were encouraged to throw water balloons at the float.

According to KCCI, some in attendance laughed at the float while Carroll County Democrat Chairman Tim Tracy said the display was sad.

Chants of “lock her up” in reference to Clinton are common at rallies of the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. Critics of Clinton believe the Democratic presidential nominee should be imprisoned for her roles, while secretary of state, in the email scandal and in the deaths of Americans during a terrorist attack at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

One of the float’s creators, Kyle Julin, told KCCI he wasn’t worried about offending people.
