Monroe man injured in motorcycle crash Saturday

A Monroe man was injured after his motorcycle crashed into the rear of a minivan Saturday.

According to the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Lebanon post, Thomas Boutvas II, 41, of Monroe, was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle following a minivan on the off-ramp to Ohio 63 from Interstate 75 south at about 3:15 p.m. Saturday.

The minivan was slowing as it was overheating, but remained in the right lane. Boutvas’ motorcycle brakes locked up and he began to lay his motorcycle down as it crashed into the rear of the minivan, according to the patrol.

Boutvas was taken to Atrium Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

The patrol reported Boutvas was cited for assured clear distance and failure to wear a helmet.
