Mom’s boyfriend charged after student brings gun to Middletown school

Jerron Dean failed to properly secure a gun, giving the 9-year-old son of his girlfriend access to it, according to Middletown police. The third-grader took the loaded gun to Rosa Parks Elementary on Monday, police said.

The boyfriend of a Middletown third-grader’s mother has been charged after the boy, 9, brought a loaded gun to school Monday, police said.

The third-grader at Rosa Parks Elementary came to school Monday with a loaded 9 millimeter gun and four extra bullets in his pocket, according to Middletown police.

Jerron Dean, 29, has been charged with endangering children, a misdemeanor.

Dean failed to properly secure the gun, giving the boy access to it, according to Middletown police Lt. Scott Reeve.

Dean is scheduled to be in Middletown Municipal Court next week for a pre-trial hearing.
