Middletown salon owner helps women, men overcome hair issues

For Robin Ruthemeyer, Genesis Hair Solutions isn’t just a business, it’s a way to help women and men who have various hair issues to look their best.

Ruthemeyer graduated from Cincinnati School of Barbering in 1980 and opened The Master’s Touch in Hair Design in Middletown in 1984 with Lisa Boy, who still owns and operates that salon.

She started training for men’s hair replacement in 1986 and training for women’s hair replacement in 1995, including solutions for people with balding or thinning hair.

“I’ve had to do quite a bit of traveling to obtain this training,” she said. “I opened Genesis Hair Solutions, formerly known as Genesis Hair Replacement, in 1999 because I wanted to specialize in hair replacement and I needed a more private facility that would cater to the needs of individuals who are experiencing hair loss.”

The business provides regular hair cutting, coloring, perming and styling along with its sister company Salons On Central, which rents styling rooms to hairstylists.

Most of Ruthemeyer’s time is spent on customizing and maintaining hair replacement solutions for both women and men.

“My clients decide on how much hair they want to add and then we customize a solution that is ordered to their exact specification and handmade overseas, most with human hair,” she said. “When we receive them we cut and blend them into their existing hair.”
