2 men indicted in Hamilton assault that turned deadly

A grand jury has indicted two men in connection with a beating death in Hamilton last summer.

Brandon Lee Mills, 40, of Parkamo Avenue, and Jordan McNew, 23, of Greenwood Avenue, were each indicted this month for involuntary manslaughter, a third-degree felony.

According to the indictment, Mills and McNew caused the death of of Jeremy Combs on Aug. 11.

Combs, 41, of Hastings Avenue, was found unresponsive at a home on Hampshire Court and was pronounced dead at an area hospital, according to a police report.

“It was an assault that turned deadly,” said Hamilton police Sgt. Brian Robinson.

Mills was arrested within days of the incident and originally charged with murder. He has been held in the Butler County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bond since his arrest.

McNew was arrested on unrelated charges in August and booked on the involuntary manslaughter charge last week.

Assistant Butler County Prosecutor Brad Burress said the assault involved “punch and kicking” not weapons.

Both men are scheduled to arraigned Wednesday in Butler County Common Pleas Court.
