Six more applicants may be eligible for licenses in the first round but are awaiting the results of tax and/or background checks, according to the department.
It’s unknown if those six include Cresco Labs LLC, which has a Level 1 cultivator license for a facility in Yellow Springs, and Pure Ohio Wellness LLC, which received a Level 1 grower license for an operation near Springfield. Both also applied for processor licenses.
Here are the first seven processors granted provisional licenses:
- Corsa Verde, LLC (Columbus, Franklin County)
- Fire Rock Processing Ltd. (Columbus, Franklin County)
- Greenleaf Therapeutics, LLC (Middlefield, Geauga County or Willoughby, Lake County)*
- Grow Ohio Pharmaceuticals, LLC (Newtown Township, Muskingum County)
- Ohio Green Grow LLC (Toledo, Lucas County)
- Ohio Grown Therapies, LLC (Johnstown, Licking County)
- Standard Farms Ohio LLC (Garfield Heights, Cuyahoga County)
*An applicant can only receive one provisional license, yet were permitted to apply multiple times with different locations. Greenleaf Therapeutics LLC has 10 days to choose one location.
The Commerce Department is authorized to award up to 40 provisional licenses and says more provisional licenses could be granted in further rounds after a review of applications needing additional clarifying information.
The application fee for standalone and vertically integrated processors runs $10,000 plus an operation fee of $90,000. The annual license renewal fee is $100,000.
Medical marijuana was supposed to be in Ohio patients’ hands by Sept. 8, but state officials have said that deadline won’t be met yet have not announced a new date.
