Marijuana found in Middletown lockers leads to charges for 3 students

Three Middletown students are facing charges after incidents involving marijuana at the middle school.

A gym teacher reported smelling marijuana in the locker room behind the gym at 1415 Girard Avenue at about 10:55 a.m. Wednesday, according to police.

A female student told an administrator and the school resource officer that she had been asked Tuesday by another female student to keep the marijuana in her locker.

The girl said she was afraid she was going to get in trouble and took the marijuana back to the girl who gave it to her.

The marijuana was transported to the locker room in a pencil pouch, according to the police report.

Both girls were charged with drug abuse (marijuana).

An hour later, during an investigation of a fire extinguisher found sprayed in the gym and hallway, a suspect admitted to the school resource officer that he had marijuana in his locker, according to the police report.

A small bag of marijuana was found in the boy’s book bag.

He was charged with criminal damaging and drug abuse (marijuana).

All three received summons to appear in juvenile court.
