Woman struck in Franklin had just crashed her vehicle

The woman struck by a vehicle has been identified as Kayle Helton, 20, of Middletown. She was taken to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

Franklin police say Helton had crashed her vehicle on Ohio 73 and went off the roadway. Her vehicle was not visible to the roadway, and she was struck by a vehicle after walking back up to the roadway, police said.

Helton was struck by a Nissan Sentra driven by Jack Bolser, 61, of Middletown.

Police are continuing to investigation, and any witnesses can call 937-746-2882.

FIRST REPORT

A woman suffered serious injuries after she was hit by a vehicle on Ohio 73 in Franklin Thursday morning.

Police and medics were dispatched to the area of westbound Ohio 73 near North Breiel Boulevard in Franklin around 3:45 a.m. on a reported pedestrian crash.

Franklin police Lt. Wayne Bowling said an initial investigation found a woman was walking in the middle of the roadway when she was hit by the vehicle.

The woman was transported to Atrium Medical Center with severe injuries.

Bowling said the woman did not have any identification on her, and police are working to identify her.

Our crew reported there were no sidewalks along this stretch of Ohio 73.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured, but was very distraught from the crash, Bowling said.
