Several area roads reopen as high water subsides

Several area roads reopened Monday after they had been closed because of high water left behind after heavy weekend rain.

High water caused more than two dozen roads to close Saturday night and Sunday morning when a system that produced excessive rainfall moved through the Miami Valley and southwest Ohio.

High water conditions were so widespread that authorities in some communities ran out of signs to warn drivers.

As of Monday night, at least 11 roadways in area counties have reopened. Still, authorities caution drivers to not attempt to drive through standing water across roads.
