1 in custody following West Chester police pursuit that ends as crash

UPDATE @ 3:50 a.m: One person is in custody after a pursuit that involved West Chester police ended as a crash early Tuesday.

Authorities say a traffic stop was initiated on Crescentville Road and State Route 747 just after 1 a.m. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit started.

The pursuit, with speeds that reached up to 90 mph, lasted approximately one mile before the suspect vehicle crashed on State Route 4 and Dixie Highway at the Fairfield border.

The driver was the only occupant inside the vehicle and was not injured in the crash.

The individual, who was immediately taken into custody, will likely be charged for failure to comply, West Chester police say.

Fairfield police assisted with the incident.
