High wind knocks out power, fells 31 poles in Wilmington

Power outages were reported as high winds blew across the region ahead of strong storms.

More than 4,600 Dayton Power & Light customers were without power in Clinton County alone after high wind knocked over 31 transmission poles in the city of Wilmington.

As of 6:20 a.m., there were 1,276 outages remaining in Clinton County.

Mary Ann Kabel, DP&L director of operations, said the National Weather Service recorded wind speeds of 64 mph in Wilmington, and that crews were working into the night to restore power.

The utility posted safety tips on social media.
