Power restored to most after large outage in Clinton County

UPDATE @ 10:45 p.m.:

After 58 transmission poles were knocked down in Thursday’s storms, affecting mostly Clinton County, a transmission line failed this morning in Clinton County.

What caused the line to fail at 8:20 a.m. is not known, but Dayton Power & Light crews were able to restore all but about 130 customers by 5 p.m., company spokesman Rob Beeler said.

As of 10:45 p.m., only three Clinton County customers were without power, according to the DP&L online outage map.

The line that failed fed a lot of substations in the Wilmington area, Beeler said.

Crews are still working to replace the poles that were felled in the high winds on Thursday.

Currently, 1,266 customers are currently still without power, according to an online outage map.

The cause of the outage is unknown, a DP&L spokesperson previously said.

We’ll continue to update this page as we learn more.

Outages were first reported around 9 a.m. and the estimated time of restoration will be available pending an investigation of the power loss, according to Mary Ann Kabel, Director of Corporate Communications for DP&L.

Customers experiencing the outage are primarily in the Wilmington and Washington Courthouse areas.

Nearby Highland County had over 1500 customers without power around the same time as well, but power has since been restored to where only fewer than 5 customers are experiencing the outage.

“We appreciate customer’s patience, especially after a significant storm has happened, said Kabel.

Crews are working to assess the problem and re-establish power to all customers. We’ll continue to update for when power is restored.
