“We were born in Dayton, we’re a Dayton company, Dayton has supported us, and we want to support Dayton,” Doug Dressman, executive vice president of Esther Price Candies, told this news outlet.

A portion of the proceeds from the candy bars will be donated to the Dayton Foundation’s Oregon District Tragedy Fund, Dressman said, “until we run out of bars.”

The Dayton Strong chocolate bars are sold in two sizes: eight-ounce bars for $7.35 and 1.5-ounce bars for $1.60. The bars are available in milk chocolate and dark chocolate, and are being sold in company stores, where they were introduced last week.

The shooting left 10 dead, including the shooter, who was shot and killed by police just outside the doorway to an Oregon District bar. Several others were injured.

In August, after Esther Price donated more than $85,000 from a day’s sales from the seven Esther Price stores from Dayton to Cincinnati and from online sales, Keith Crabtree, the company’s chief financial officer, said in a release that the “Esther Price community showed up in ways we couldn’t imagine. We knew they would respond, but (they) exceeded our wildest expectations. We don’t have the words to express our gratitude towards our community for rallying together at a time when the city needs it most.”
