Miami U.’s Artist Series kicks off this fall, features award-winning musical performers

The Miami University Regionals Artist Series will present an outstanding slate of eight live music shows at the Hamilton and Middletown campuses during the 2018-19 season (four on each campus) that includes a variety of popular, sought-after performers:

Blue Highway will kick-off the season at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 at Parrish Auditorium on the Hamilton campus. This traditional, original bluegrass band is storming the national airplay charts. Tickets are $28 for adults and $26 for seniors, faculty and staff, students, and children 12 and under.

An Acoustic Evening with Shawn Colvin is up next at the Middletown campus’ Dave Finkelman Auditorium on at 7 p.m. on Oct. 13. Colvin is a critically acclaimed singer-songwriter-guitarist. She received the Lifetime Achievement Trailblazer Award at the 2016 Americana Honors & Awards Show. This will be a solo acoustic show. There will be an opening act; Colvin takes the stage at 8 p.m. Tickets are $28 for adults and $26 for seniors, faculty and staff, students, and children 12 and under.

Following is John McEuen & The String Wizards presents: Will the Circle Be Unbroken at Parrish Auditorium on the Hamilton campus at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 27. An original member of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, McEuen (banjo) will be joined on stage by other instrumental giants serving up the best of today’s acoustic string music. Tickets are $28 for adults and $26 for seniors, faculty and staff, students, and children 12 and under.

Dailey & Vincent continues the season at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 2 at the Middletown campus’ Dave Finkelman Auditorium. The duo are Grand Ole Opry members, five-time Grammy award winners individually and three-time Grammy award nominees collectively. Tickets are $32 for adults, $30 for seniors, faculty and staff, students, and children 12 and under.

The Ohio band Over the Rhine will be performing at the Hamilton campus’ Parrish Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 23. This will be an acoustic trio, including strings, piano and vocals. Tickets will go on sale on Oct. 1. Tickets are $30 for adults, $28 for seniors, faculty and staff, students, and children 12 and under.

Leftover Salmon takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. on March 2 in Dave Finkelman Auditorium on the Middletown campus. This Colorado-based Americana band will perform its “living room show” that reflects the music of Appalachia, the streets of New Orleans, the clubs of Chicago, the plains of Texas and the mountains of Colorado. Tickets will go on sale on Sept. 1. Tickets are $32 for adults and $30 for seniors, faculty and staff, students, and children 12 and under.

The Subdudes follow at 7:30 p.m. on March 30 at Dave Finkelman Auditorium on the Middletown campus. This is an American roots rock group from New Orleans. Their music blends folk, swamp pop, New Orleans rhythm and blues, Louisiana blues, country, cajun/zydeco, funk, soul, and gospel with harmonic vocals. Tickets are $28 for adults and $26 for seniors, faculty and staff, students, and children 12 and under.

Wrapping up at Parrish Auditorium on the Hamilton campus is The Ruth Moody Band at 7:30 p.m. on April 13. Moody is a founding and current member of the internationally renowned, Billboard-charting trio The Wailin’ Jennys. Critics laud Moody’s depth, ethereal vocals, multi-instrumentalism and insightful songwriting. This show will be an acoustic trio. Tickets are $28 for adults and $26 for seniors, faculty and staff, students, and children 12 and under.
