Man wanted for assaulting, tying up 91-year-old woman

An Eaton man is wanted after he assaulted his 91-year-old grandmother and tied her up before stealing her van and fleeing the area Tuesday afternoon, police said.

William McClellan is said to have entered his grandmother’s home in the 400 block of North Street around 2:20 p.m. and stole her purse before assaulting her and stealing her vehicle, according to Eaton Officer Lucas Schlumpf.

Schlumpf said the woman was transported to the Eaton Emergency Center for treatment of multiple head injuries.  The woman was in stable condition at last check, he said.

Police said the stolen vehicle that McClellan may be driving is a 1991 Grey GMC Safari van with Ohio plate FIZ 4296.
Schlumpf said McClellan has ties to Richmond and Huber Heights, so they notified multiple agencies to search for the suspect.

Anyone who spots the vehicle or knows McClellan’s whereabouts is asked to contact police.
