At least 420 storm-related injuries reported at Dayton-area hospitals from tornado outbreak

PREVIOUS REPORT: Over 300 storm-related injuries reported across Dayton-area hospitals

The total number of people injured either during last Monday’s tornadoes or during cleanup efforts in the following days, has reached 420 people, according to officials at Premier Health and Kettering Health Network.

  • Premier Health network: 245 patients treated or are still receiving treatment for storm-related injuries in their network, as of 3 p.m. Wednesday
  • Kettering Health Network: 175 patients treated for storm-related injuries, as of Wednesday morning. 35 of those patients were admitted to the hospital. 

The tornado outbreak remains responsible for only one death, 81-year-old Melvin Dale Hannah, of Celina, who was killed when a parked vehicle was thrown into his house by a tornado while he slept.

A Harrison Twp. woman, Catherine Clayburn, 71, went missing on Memorial Day just hours before the tornadoes moved through the area. Clayburn was found dead June 4 near Shiloh Drive in Harrison Twp., however, her cause of death has not yet been determined, and has not been ruled a storm-related death.
