Hamilton teen in 911 call: ‘I just shot my dad’

UPDATE @ 4:30 p.m. (Feb. 23): The teen who allegedly shot her father to death also made the call to 911.

In the 911 call, the sobbing teen says, “Can somebody come and put me in handcuffs? I just shot my dad.”

The dispatcher asks, “You did what to your dad?”

The teen answers, “I just shot him.”

The girl says she is outside by a green truck and the gun is in the bedroom “where they keep the guns.”

“I have my phone in my hand and my book bag on the ground,” she tells the dispatcher, adding that there is no one else in the house except her dogs and cat.

The teen repeatedly says she is sorry.

When the dispatcher asks what led to the shooting, the girl answers, “I don’t know. I just shot him.”

Later in the call, the teen says her mother believes she is "such a good girl."

“I have five siblings who lost their dad,” the teen tells the dispatcher.

UPDATE @ 3:03 p.m. (Feb. 23):The victim that was allegedly shot and killed by his 14-year-old daughter has been identified as James Ponder, 71, of Hamilton.

UPDATE @ 3 p.m. (Feb. 23): A teenager has been charged with aggravated murder for allegedly shooting her father to death this morning at their Hamilton home, police told this news outlet.

A man was shot in the face in what police described as “an isolated domestic situation” at a home in the 1200 block of Millville Avenue.

Police have not yet released the name of the victim.

UPDATE @ 8:48 a.m. (Feb. 23):

A man was shot in the face in what police described as “an isolated domestic situation and not a random incident.”

Officers responded to the house in the 1200 block of Millville Avenue around 6:50 a.m. for a report of a man shot at a residence.

Police said the male victim was still alive when they arrived on scene and he was transported to Fort Hamilton Hospital for treatment.

“There is no danger to the general public relative to this incident,” police said in a prepared statement.  “Investigators are currently interviewing members of the household to determine exactly what transpired and what led up to the shooting.”

The identities of the individuals involved in the shooting were not released and additional information should come later this afternoon.

UPDATE @ 8:41 a.m. (Feb. 23):

The person shot on Millville Avenue in Hamilton this morning was shot in the face in what appears to have been a domestic incident, according to police.

The victim was transported to Fort Hamilton Hospital in Hamilton, police said.

Additional details about the case are expected to be released later this morning.

INITIAL REPORT:

One person has reportedly been shot on Millville Avenue in Hamilton Thursday morning. 

The incident occurred around 7 a.m. in the 1200 block of Millville Avenue in Hamilton, according to our news partners WCPO-TV in Cincinnati. 

Media reports indicate the victim will be transported to a Cincinnati hospital by medical helicopter.
