Hamilton native’s music video goes viral

A Hamilton native is using music he created during a tough time in his life to encourage others who may be struggling.

The music video — "Hope N Love" — hit the Internet less than two weeks ago and has since gone viral, with more than 1 million views, 4,000 likes and 1,000 shares on Facebook.

Tanner Langdon, a graduate of Ross High School, said he grew up in Hamilton and Ross Twp. and lived in the Cincinnati area.

“I have lived in all three of those areas and they all three mean so much to me, but Hamilton is where I was born, my wife was born, and our daughters were born … and that says it all,” he said.

After the death of his brother last year, his wife’s battle with cancer, and the loss of a child, Langdon said he wanted to produce a music video with a healing message.

“It was really tough and I was looking around and watching people suffer from drugs, the violence … so much negative going on,” he said. “I wanted to do something and wrote the song ‘Hope N Love.’ ”

His band, composed of his wife, his teenage daughter, and his best friend, is called Action3:16&Fam.

“When you watch the video you will see that every one of us in the world has things we’ve been through that we could write on paper and set fire and let go of to help ourselves and that’s why it’s so special,” Langdon said.

The family band dynamic makes their music even more meaningful, according to Langdon.

“My wife is the singer in the band. She suffered through a horrible cancer experience that she came out of stronger and more beautiful than when she went in and she is definitely my hero,” he said. “The fact that she can even sing after the damage she had with her throat with the thyroid cancer and the problems that ensued is just evidence that God is with us.”

Langdon’s relationship with funk legend Bootsy Collins led to the development of his own record label.

“I am on the board for the Bootsy Collins foundation and we do a lot of wonderful things for people who are in need in the tri-state and surrounding areas,” he said. “I am best friends with his son Ouiwey Collins.”

Ouiwey Collins has helped Langdon develop his own record label — Unity Recordz.

“We have been offered smaller deals before we put together the family band and the video that is doing well,” Langdon said. “We look forward to working with like minded individuals in the future and now they are looking at us.”
