Franklin City Council recently approved a resolution to apply to the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission for Federal Fast Act Funds under the Transportation Improvement program to be awarded in the 2023 funding cycle.
The projects planned include:
- $1 million for intersection improvements on Ohio 123 at the Hampton Bennett School/Franklin Community Park driveways. The city's estimated local share would be about $320,385.
- $1 million to mill and repave South Dixie Highway from Riley Boulevard to the south corporation limit. The city's estimated local share would be $344,000.
City Engineer Barry Conway said if approved construction would begin in 2024. He said this is the first step in the application for the federal funding process through MVRPC.
Of the two projects, the resolution also prioritized the Ohio 123 intersection improvements to be selected first for funding.
