A worker at Bauer’s Candies in Kentucky tested positive for the contagious liver disease, prompting the FDA to issue a public health alert advising consumers to get rid of any Bauer’s Candies’ Modjeskas purchased after Nov. 14.
Modjeskas are individually-wrapped marshmallow candies covered in chocolate or caramel. They were sold on QVC and at bauerscandy.com.
The “employee who tested positive for the virus worked in our facility between the dates of Nov. 16-23, 2018,” said Bauer’s Candies President Anne Bauer in a statement on the company’s website.
The statement goes on to say the “risk of contamination is low” and that candy manufactured after Nov. 25 is not affected in any way.
