City offers special tree limb pickup due to ice storm

The city’s Public Works Department is adding a special brush and limb pickup rotation starting Nov. 26 due to the extra amount of limbs and brush that fell throughout the city after the recent ice storm.

Crews will begin the pickup of brush starting in area 1 (west of Pleasant Avenue) and continuing east through areas 2 and 3 as volume and weather allow, according to the city.

Because there is an unknown volume of brush to be picked up, there will not be a set schedule, officials said in a statement.

Crews are currently working to clear areas along the streets that were most heavily impacted by the ice storm Nov. 15.

“Residents are asked to please be patient while this extra pickup gets worked in around the weather and the ongoing leaf pickup program that is in process. It may take some time to cover all areas,” the city said in a statement.

Anyone with brush to be picked up should bundle it into four foot lengths and place it with their trash.

Residents with a larger volume of brush should contact the Public Works Department and request a dumpster.

Crews ask that residents not co-mingle brush and leaves. The machine used for leaves cannot pick up brush. Crews will continue picking up leaves as scheduled.
