Excessive heat closes Middletown brewery for two days

A Middletown business that has no air conditioning is closed today and Friday due to the heat emergency that was issued for the area.

Rolling Mill Brewing Company, 916 First Ave., announced that since it has no AC in its taproom, it’s closed for two days “for the safety of our employees and customers,” according to its Facebook page.

Rolling Mill will be open for “beat the heat” hours from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Heat indices for Friday and Saturday will reach at least 100 degrees, and Storm Center 7 meteorologists say lengthy exposure to this heat can lead to heat cramps, heat stroke or heat exhaustion.

An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for the entire region from 2 p.m. today to 8 p.m. Saturday.
