About 20 flights through local airports are canceled today after a snowstorm left several planes grounded.
The Midwest snowstorm dropped over a foot of snow in some places, according to the National Weather Service. While it is clearing, airlines are still backed up as they shuffle aircraft that aren’t where they should be for normal operations.

Chicago, one of the nation’s largest hub airports, has seen a bulk of the issue with more than 800 flights leaving and arriving at the airport canceled today, adding to abut 800 canceled yesterday, according to FlightAware.com. All inbound flights are being held at their origin until 2:30 p.m. today, according to the website.
Those cancellations have caused several Ohio flights through the Dayton, Cincinnati and Columbus airports to be delayed and canceled as well.

In Dayton, today’s flights serviced by United Airlines, American Airlines and Delta Airlines departing for Chicago have been canceled until early this evening. The first flight headed to Chicago is expected to take off at 6:25 p.m. Arrivals from Chicago have also been canceled, until after 6 p.m.
In total, 11 Dayton Airport flights have been canceled and several others are delayed. Four flights through Cincinnati and five through Columbus for later today are also canceled.
