There’s no need to RSVP to the free event, but, “we’ve had over 1,000 people RSVP they’re coming, so we’re hoping to get original faculty that were there, alumni, community, business partners along the way, all that kind of stuff,” said Chris Connell, Miami Regionals’ senior director of administration.
Events will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with fun able to continue afterward at the 8:30 p.m. Signs of Life, a Pink Floyd tribute band, will perform a concert at Hamilton’s RiversEdge Amphitheater in Marcum Park. The concert is presented by Miami University Regionals.
Here’s more details about the events at Saturday’s celebration:
• 9:30 to 11 a.m.: Former and current deans will participate in question-and-answer sessions in the Jack Rhodes Study in Mosler Hall
• 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Picnic with food, the Flub's truck, a chili cook-off featuring Hamilton's police and fire departments, inflatable attractions, 20-minute talks by several faculty discussing their disciplines, antique cars and a disc jockey spinning 1960s hits.
• 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Animals from the Newport Aquarium will be in the Harry T. Wilks Conference Center.
• 12:45 to 1:15 p.m.: Welcome speech, proclamation from Hamilton Mayor Pat Moeller and items for the time capsule
• 8:30 p.m.: Signs of Life concert will happen at RiversEdge Amphitheater in Marcum Park.
Also present during the day will be a recently dedicated whimsical mural by Hamilton artist Stephen Smith and a new sculpture on campus that makes use of a kaleidoscope.
There also will be tours of the conservatory on campus.
