Drownings this weekend claimed the lives of a Miami University student and a graduate of the school.
Miami officials said Monday that Guan Lian, a senior at the school’s Hamilton regional campus, and Yanqi Xing, who graduated from Miami in December, died while boating out of state.
According to Carole Johnson, spokeswoman for Miami University, “the two were boating on Lake Cumberland in Kentucky this past weekend.”
No other details regarding to two were immediately available.
The school is providing remote grief counselors for students.
“Miami is providing counseling to students through the H.O.P.E. (Help Over the Phone Everywhere) Line, It is available 24/7 for students to call for immediate support, crisis intervention, and stabilization from a licensed mental health counselor,” said Johnson.
Students may access the counseling service by calling H.O.P.E. Line at 855-249-5649.
