Efforts to grow its digital printing business means Innovative Labeling Solutions is hiring for job openings it needs to fill immediately, and is also accepting applications for jobs it expects will need filled going forward, said Chief Operations Officer Preston Bowles.

Founded in 1996, the label maker and packaging printer will mark its 20th anniversary next year. When business started, Innovative Labeling used traditional flexographic printing machines to make labels. Since expanding to digital printing over the last decade or so, the digital business now comprises more than 70 percent of sales, according to the company.

“The technology allows each and every image that comes off the printer to be different. That gives a huge flexibility to marketers,” Bowles said.

Innovative Labeling, which currently has approximately 80 employees, now claims to be the North American leader for digital printing. Business has expanded from printing product labels to also making shrink sleeves. It also has the ability to print on flexible packaging materials such as a stand-up pouch.

The Fairfield Twp. business was the first in the U.S. to install last year a Hewlett-Packard Indigo 20000 digital press.

“When there’s new technology coming on the market, we’re not only the first to get that technology but we also have the ability to try to influence (the technology),” Bowles said. “Part of our role and our mission isn’t just to print labels. It is to change an industry and to change marketing.”

Currently, there are about 16 immediate job openings for production operators, he said.

A job fair will be held Saturday, Dec. 19, with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. at OhioMeansJobs-Butler County, located at 4631 Dixie Hwy. (Ohio 4) in Fairfield. Interviews will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and attendees can visit anytime during those hours, according to company officials.

Applicants should bring a resume, photo identification and Social Security card.

Pre-interview sessions will provide job seekers an overview of business operations, available positions and provide a forum for answering questions, according to Innovative Labeling. Leading job candidates will be invited to the company’s facility at 4000 Hamilton-Middletown Road (Ohio 4) for follow-up interviews and a tour, Bowles said.

For more information, go online to http://hiringevent.ilslabels.com/. Applicants are also encouraged to fill out an application found on that website beforehand if possible.

“We need to do a job fair just because of sheer growth,” he said.

“Finding people isn’t always hard. Finding people who align with our culture… is a challenge and when we’re hiring folks, it as much who they are first and what they can do second,” Bowles said.
