A Moraine man who led police in a high-speed chase in Franklin last month was arraigned Wednesday on several charges in Warren County Common Pleas Court.

Robert Anthony Cochran, 35, was indicted July 17 on charges of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony; failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony; two counts of petty theft, a first-degree misdemeanor; and obstructing official business, a second-degree misdemeanor.

Franklin police said Cochran allegedly shoplifted several boxes of golf balls valued at more than $300 from the Walmart store on East Second Street on June 19.

He is being held in the Warren County Jail under $25,000 cash only bond on each charge. No other information on Cochran’s case was available on the county jail or clerk of courts websites Wednesday.

Franklin police said police were called to the Walmart story on East Second Street on June 19 for a theft in progress. Police allege Cochran left the Walmart store in a small green Jeep Liberty towards Springboro. An unmarked police car got behind Cochran’s vehicle but when marked police units caught up, Cochran did not stop his vehicle when signaled by police. Cochran turned his vehicle around and started back into Franklin at high speed on westbound East Second Street.

After Cochran got into downtown Franklin, he turned south and the wrong way on South Main Street. Cochran then turned onto Third Street and turned again onto Riley Boulevard where he went left of center in an attempt to get through traffic and then went to the right to squeeze through more stopped traffic at the intersection of Riley Boulevard and Second Street. Cochran’s vehicle rammed several cars trying to push through, but was unsuccessful. He then fled on foot and was apprehended behind the Speedway gas station, police said.

Cochran was taken for medical treatment before being booked into the Warren County Jail on June 19.
