Former President Barack Obama called for jury duty in Illinois

Former President Barack Obama is going to court next month, but he won’t be testifying.

Obama was called for jury duty in Illinois and said he plans to serve, WLS reported Friday, citing to Cook County officials.

Obama, who owns a home in Chicago's Kenwood neighborhood, will serve in November, WLS reported.

The former president lives in Washington, but maintains a home in Chicago. He is not the first former president to be called to jury duty, CNN reported.

Obama is not the first former president to receive a notice for jury duty. In 2015, former President George W. Bush reported for jury duty was called and appeared at a Dallas courthouse, CNN reported. He sat through the selection process but was not chosen.
