A dozen people are without a home this morning after a fire tore through a condominium complex.
Dispatchers made the call just after 5 a.m. today for a reported fire at a unit in the 9700 block of Timberview Court.
Firefighters from West Chester Twp., Liberty Twp., Mason and Springdale responded to the scene, where flames were shooting through the roof, according to Barb Wilson, spokeswoman for West Chester Twp.
About a dozen people evacuated the eight units affected by the blaze, and no injuries were reported, Wilson said.
One elderly man who remained fast asleep in a unit where the flames had not yet reached had to be carried out by firefighters, who initially could not rouse the man by pounding on his door, she said. Firefighters rescued the man after gaining entrance to the residence by shattering a window.
Those displaced by the fire are being assisted by the Red Cross, Wilson said.
A damage estimate is not yet available and the fire remains under investigation, she said.
