Fazoli's offers free meals to workers furloughed by federal shutdown

Fazoli's may not be able to broker a budget deal to end the federal government shutdown, but it does want to help those most affected by it.

The fast-casual restaurant chain run by a Dayton-area native is offering all furloughed government employees with a valid ID a free Pizza Baked Spaghetti with the purchase of a drink through Sunday, Jan. 13 at participating locations.

A spokeswoman for Fazoli’s said Dayton-area restaurants are indeed participating in the promotion.

“We wanted to do our part to make life a little easier on the people in our communities who have been affected by the shutdown,” Fazoli’s CEO Carl Howard — a native of Kettering and a 1983 graduate of what was then Fairmont East High School — said in a release.

“The Pizza Baked Spaghetti is a fan-favorite that has just returned for a limited time. So come on by this week, show us your government ID, buy a soda and this mouthwatering signature baked pasta dish is on us.”

There is a limit of one meal per eligible guest per day with the purchase of a regular-size or larger drink.
