Fairfield road reopens, but major water main repairs continue

Ross Road is now open to through traffic between Mack Road and Ohio 4 after being closed since late March to replace more than 3,000 feet of water main.

The new pipe was installed ahead of the city's repaving of Ross and Mack roads, which will begin later this summer. Fairfield City council approved a $721,000 contract with JNT Excavating to install the water main pipe.

The area is still a construction zone as work continues on Mack Road, city spokeswoman Jenny Dexter said. Short delays and lane shifts are possible, she said.

Work will continue on the project through July, primarily on Mack Road.

Ross Road will be closed again for two to three days at the completion of the waterline project to accommodate for a shoulder widening for the final paving of the road.

Barrertt Paving was awarded a $1.8 million contract for the city's annual asphalt resurfacing project.
